Swelling..

Topics: 13   Posts: 67

Im just wondering if this is normal if i should call my doctor.... I have a doctors appointment on tuesday anyways but it kinda scared me... I know some swelling and puffiness is normal but last night my feet, legs and ankles swelled up 2 or 3 times the normal size they r.... I was out in the heat but i made sure to walk around every so often just to make sure i was getting good circulation and everything... I slept with my feet up all night long and the swelling still didnt go down all the way untill a little earlier today, and my today its hard to even walk it feels like all my muscles in my legs and feet are bruised or something... My ankles are a little swollen still but not much.... I was just wondering if this was something i need to call my doctor about today or if it could wait untill tuesday morning...

That happened to me to..when i was in cooler air the swelling wasnt as bad..and putting my feet in cold water then warm and cold for awhile made the swelling go down....or sitting in the bath tub with cooler water..also drinking ALOT of water..for me and seem like u as well...my bf massaged my feet but it hurt the top of them alot but also felt good at the same time...felt like they were bruised......the hotter it is the more swelling happens

Yeah he rubbed my feet and legs but it hurt so bad for him to even touch them... he made me sit through it though because he said it would help and it did somewhat... it just hurts to even walk.. ive been drinking sooo much water too! They arent swollen now but i also havent been outside since early today and i havent been up on my feet at all lol. I guess it will be fine untill I see the dr tuesday....

I'd give your Doc a call. Sudden swelling can be signs of pre-eclampsia, but there will normally be other signs along with swelling.

I agree with MommaJenn, Because swelling can lead to pre-eclampsia, I would call the dr. It might be nothing, or it might be serious.

Swelling, especially of the face and hands, but also excessive swelling of the ankles, can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. Other signs are headache, blurred vision or spots before your eyes, and high blood pressure. It is always best to be cautious, although the swelling you have may be from something else related to your pregnancy. I would call your doctor and see if he thinks you can wait until your Tuesday appointment or if you need to be seen sooner. Please keep us posted!
