I'm 14 wks pregnant and I keep continuing to lose weight.  I know its normal to lose a little bit of weight at the begining because of morning sickness but im losing like 5 and 10 lbs at a time.  I started out at 145 and i am now under 120 and still losing!  I eat good and I dont miss meals & i havent been getting sick very often anymore. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if its normal?

While most pregnant women do gain a little weight in the first trimester (5 lb or less is average), some do not gain, and some even lose a little because of the nausea and vomiting that is common in the early weeks. Since you have started the second trimester and continue to lose, ask your doctor what he/she recommends, and consider getting an appointment with a nutritionist to help you be sure you are including the necessary amounts of protein, vitamins and minerals in your diet. If a woman is significantly overweight when she becomes pregnant, it is possible to avoid gaining weight throughout the pregnancy and have a healthy outcome for both mother and baby; however, this should always be done under the supervision of your doctor. Nutrition is extremely important to the proper growth and development of your baby.

“Is early pregnancy weight loss dangerous?

I am 15 weeks pregnant and I haven't gained a pound. In fact, I've lost eight pounds since I learned that I was pregnant! I have been eating right and I quit smoking when I learned I was pregnant. I am very nervous that my baby is not developing properly due to my weight loss.

Typical weight gain during the first trimester is about five pounds, but many women lose or are unable to gain any weight due to nausea. Studies of women with severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy confirm that the babies do well despite maternal weight loss.
In a study published in the British Medical Journal (Feb 17, 1996) by Godfrey, "Maternal nutrition in early and late pregnancy in relation to placental and fetal growth," research demonstrated that carbohydrate and protein intake during early and late pregnancy may have specific and differing effects.
Here is an interesting excerpt from this article: "High carbohydrate intakes in early pregnancy were associated with low placental and birth weights. Although this seems paradoxical, in sheep farming it is common practice for ewes to be put on rich pasture before they are mated and then on poor pasture for a period in early pregnancy. Experimental studies in farm animals suggest that the scientific basis of this practice may lie partly in stimulation of placental growth by undernutrition in early pregnancy. Similar effects may occur in humans."
As long as you are eating a well balanced diet and getting all of food groups in appropriate quantities, you and your baby should be fine. Weight gain is only a small indication of nutrition. An ultrasound will also reveal whether growth and development are on track and should help to put your mind at ease. “http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/pfirsttri/0,,midwife_469x,00.html

“The first trimester is the beginning of this important journey that is pregnancy. Even if it won’t get obvious that you are carrying a baby from the outside, you will feel different and you will notice many changes in your body. These include breast changes, you will urinate more often, you may be much more tired than usual, and you may have nausea, heartburn, headaches. Besides these, some women reclaim feelings of depression, anxiety, fear and mood swings. You might also feel the weight gain (that will most probably occur from the first trimester) as one of the important changes in your body, especially if you’ve had constantly swinging weight gain over the past few years.
It is recommended to gain about 3 to 5 pounds in the first trimester of pregnancy. Sometimes it’s difficult to gain weight during pregnancy, even if you want to. You might even lose weight in the first trimester, because of the morning sickness, lack of appetite and tiredness. How risky might this be for your baby? On the other hand, it is possible to gain much more than the normal amount of weight in the first trimester. This is also not healthy for either of you. Let’s discuss these two situations separately.
Do you gain weight the first trimester of pregnancy if you eat barely anything? Perhaps not, but you don’t have to worry about this. During the nausea-prone first trimester, few women manage to eat “by the book”. That’s why it is important to enter pregnancy with enough nutritional reserves to provide for you and your baby.
If you didn’t manage to gain at least 2 pounds after the first trimester of pregnancy, or even lose some weight you don’t need to panic, this is not a reason for the baby not to develop normally, but you should consult a specialist in nutrition. If you didn’t have healthy-eating habits before, pregnancy is the time to develop these good habits. Even if you don’t have an appetite and you feel a little sick, make sure that what you eat , at least, is high-calorie but healthy food. You don’t have to exaggerate with eating junk food and having endless desserts, even if you didn’t manage to gain the proper weight in the first trimester. This may be harmful for the baby.”  http://www.butterflybabies.co.uk/1st-trimester.htm#2

I also cannot eat any bread of any kind at all now because it makes me really sick and i cant eat much dairy products either and i was told that this could also be a reason for my weight loss.. I have completely cut out fast food as well. Do u think that this could be a reason why i lost so much weight?
