Being deaf does not make you a bad parent. As suggested before, go to your children's services department and tell them your situation, they will decide what is in your son's best interest, your mother cannot "close the case!, only CS can do this..if a case is opened. This should not cost you anything. Having no tv is not important but providing you are able to gradually provide a bed and the basic necessities your son needs there should be no reason for him to remain with your parents long term, however it may be decided that he stays with your parents short term until you have been able to get these basic necessities. If you show you can and have provided a healthy and safe home for your son then your parents will not be able to keep your son, CS will help ensure he is returned home. Again, YOU must go to seek help from children's services, no one can do this for you. If you do it yourself it shows you are fighting for your son. It may help that you can prove you are buying the necessities for both heath and your new baby and not wasting money on non essentials. Maybe some other mothers or NurseAnne will know the laws in your country on this matter and can better advise you.

I agree with dogberry. You need to have the basic necessities for your child. You need to have food, clothing, a home, a bed or practicing responsible co-sleeping. You don't need a TV for an infant or any of those "perks". You need to contact child services in your area and they will decide what is best for your son.

Are you stable mentally to take care of your son? Yeah you do need the necessities but you also need to be in the right mind. There has to be some reason your parents don't feel your child would be taken care of with you. We don't know the whole story about your life and we only know what you write so not really knowing the situation it is hard to say if your child is better off with them or you.

Your mother can not legally take your child from you. Welfare or the state will not take your child from you or call you a bad parent for not having furniture. Check around your area, some places will give you a free crib. As long as you have food your yourself and your child, the necessities and can take care of your child no one can do anything.

As I explained before, your parents cannot legally keep you from your child unless a court has ordered your baby into relative placement with them. If you do not have an open case with social services, you can call Child and Family Services (or the Department of Children andn Families) and ask for an appointment. they should be able to help you. If you do have an open case, then ask your social worker what you can do to get him back. As long as you have a safe place to live and enough food and clothing for your child, you should be able to have him returned to you right away. If you need a lawyer, you may be able to get a referral to legal aid to find someone who will help you.

Your parents cannot close your case with DCF or Child Services once it is opened, and they cannot legally take your baby from you unless that placement was ordered by the court. If you have an open case they should send someone to your home to do a home study and that will determine if they think your home is a safe place for your child. If you need to get anything or change anything to make it suitable for him, they will let you know what you have to do.  We wish you all the best. Please take care of yourself for the sake of your new baby, and keep us posted about what happens.

I agree with ALL of the posters! Your parents do not have the right, yet we may not know all of their reasons.

I'm kind of thinking that you had to give your child to your parents for some reason. I don't think you are telling the whole story. It just seems strange to me that you wouldn't call the police or anything the moment your child wasn't given back to you. I don't want to judge you and say that your a bad parent but I think that something is going on with you that we dont know about and I do think that what ever you are going through you should workout before you get your child back.

end of dec i sneak out with my son to move out to live with my bf and live with my friend, as a roomate, then my roomate been smoking, and having 2 dogs and 2 cat around and small living room and it dirty and no place for heath to play around and i have to put him in crib, blah, i decide to move out cuz it isnt good for heath to live there, i live for 3 week, so we move out, it kind of no place to go, so i went LA to stay my bio-mother, she smoke, we stay for 2 days and we find place to stay, is at my friend, but i dont want heath feelin scare, or whatever emotion will effection him, so my parent talk me into give them until i get place and stable home, that was like middle of jan, then we went friend, they have baby, but i knew it no place for heath to walk around and sit and eat, so then at feb i found place, is apartment, ofc not yet get son back cuz no money, so march time, it all good im ready get him back then all sudden parent doesnt want me take him, i have stable hom, and i sign lease for 12 month and im not on money tight or anything, that why they took him in first place...

Why did you have to sneak out with him? I do agree with you that anybody smoking in your childs living environment is not good, so moving away from the problem was good. But, moving so many times is also not very good, children - babies included- need a stable environment to learn and thrive. If you have your lease signed and everything set for Heath to come home, then you should be 100% sure that you can provide for him to lead a healthy life before he comes back. As for your parents keeping him still, maybe you should talk with them. Invite them over for dinner or something and show them that you have your life on track and that you are ready to have your son back. If they still refuse, then I would go down to Child Services and file a report or something. But, I would still be very greatful to them for providing stability for Heath when you were having a rough time. I really hope everything works out for you. I'm glad that you are getting back on track and have your own place, because now you're going to have two little ones to care for. Good luck!
