what to do...?

Topics: 15   Posts: 19

So today I'm 34 weeks. I had a doctors appointment yesterday and I told my doctor about these muscle pains I've been having for the past 2 weeks in my groin area. He said it was probably just stretching and didn't check me out. Well, today it's so bad that it hurts to even get up and walk around and I've also been having like sharp pains on and off, but nothing extreme. I don't know what I should do... my doctor is like an hour away and the last time I had a problem, it took them forever to get back to me and didn't even tell me what was going on.... HELP??

Many moms experience inner thigh pain in the final weeks or pregnancy. Sometimes it is from the added pressure on nerves or the continued stretching of ligaments. If it is sharp shooting pain, it may be caused by the baby's head pressing on the cervix which has many nerve endings. In any event, the only thing that will completely end the problem is having the baby. In the mean time you might try warm compresses or frequent change of position to see if that gives you relief. Walk when you can to keep everything moving. If it worsens or you have a new symptom that causes you to worry, call you doctor.   :-)

thanx! my doctor told me yday to monitor my babys kicks.. he told me that after i got done eating to go lay down to monitor her movements to make sure there are at least 10 within in hour... well i've ben doing that since yday after my appointment and i have yet to get that many movements... he told me to call if it was less than 10, but i dont know if i'm just overreacting or what?

Your baby tends to be the most active after you have eaten, so that is a good time to count kicks. I would call and let the doctor know how many you are able to count if it is less than he told you to expect. They might have you come in for a stress test or a non-stress test where they hook you up to a monitor and count kicks during monitoring just to be sure your baby is active enough. Sounds like you don't have much longer to wait. Let us know how you are doing and when your baby arrives. :-)
