Large Babies and Autism...

Topics: 11   Posts: 13

I had my last ultasound at 26 weeks, and I asked her to take good pictures, well one of the pictures she zoomed in close just so it was his face/head ..and it looked so beautiful, in fact i have it in my family album on my profile, but after a week one my brother in law brought his gf over and she was looking at them and made a comment i believe it was something along the lines like "omg his head is so big he could be autistic of have down syndrom"..i have nothing against children with disabilities, and I praise the parents who raise their children who are challenged and to me those are super moms.. but i kno as wlel that no mother would obviously ever wish this upon her child, and every since she made this comment it has worried me..does anyone know if this is true or was she just being a b-otch (pardon my language mommies)

First off I think she was kinda of ignorant to make any such comment in the first place. Who the hell would say something like that? Honestly, I think if there was any concern your doctor would have said something. You can always ask them about it at your next appointment, but don't stress over it. Your baby will be just as God intended!

She just sounds ignorant....I agree with MrsLux if there were any concerns the doctor would have said something.

I wouldn't worry about it unless your doctor has concerns. People say the stupidest things sometimes.

i have to say, that was a mean comment! all babies have bigger looking heads because thats the first thing to develop and i thought my baby's head was big too but the dr said it is normal because their heads are big but do not worry, they grow into their bodies!

Thats rude! What a crappy thing to say to a mom to be! Don't worry at all. My ultrasound made my son look like he had Down Syndrom, and that was because he was moving as she took the picture (it wouldn't have made a difference to me if he did, he would still be perfect). Things like that just happen when you have a baby moving around inside. If your doctor would have thought your baby had Down's or Autisim he/she would have discussed it with you.
