I’m an underpaid event coordinator. I don’t get paid at all…However, I do love sharing ideas about how to organize your parties, decorating themes, catering, etc. There are many good ideas out there but sometimes it’s nice coming up with something more personal. I’ll start with the beach because that’s my favorite place for everything: bridal shower, bachelorette party, Wedding, baby shower, B-day, Anniversary, and if I could I’ll have my funeral held there too while my coffin floats on the waves and disappears in the distance. Baby showers should be a time for fun to enjoy yourself and the gift inside of you about to be unwrapped. We get only a few chances to be royalty and a baby shower is one of them. Of course, number one royalty event is your wedding. Don’t worry, we are still royalty, even if our nails don’t grow any longer, or white hair showing off and no time to dye it. Not even the most expensive brands will ever cure the white cow disease. Going back to the topic, a baby shower at the beach is extremely inviting and relaxing. Use sea shells and coat them with clear nail polish. If your baby is a girl you can use mermaids theme and if a boy use sharks, octopus, whales, whatever you prefer. Find napkins for these themes and if they are too expensive just use plain aqua blue napkins. You can also use a boat theme and have ships as center pieces. If you can afford it, rent one of those party boats and sail while you celebrate. For the green lovers, the nature theme baby shower. You can decorate everything in green with other bright colors: yellow, pink, orange. Use stripes or other shapes. This theme will go perfectly in spring. For winter showers you can decorate in blue, silver, and white. Decorate everything with fake snow and hang those glittery snow flakes they sell to hang on Christmas trees. Use white and silver crocheted hats as favors. Have ice-cream instead of cake. You can also use white silver and blue mugs with marshmallows & chocolate inside, as favors. Just have fun with it and be creative. Summer is the time for lights. I’ll definitely use candles, fans, and mosquito repellent favors. Autumn makes me think of leaves falling. I’ll probably make a long curtain with plastic orange leaves. Some tiny pumpkins as favors. For centerpieces use pumpkins & fill them up with hand towels, baby bottles, baby thermometers, wipes, etc. You might also scatter some silk orange leaves on the floor. Last but not least, think about a more intimate and romantic baby shower for couples only. You can do it at night with candle light, romantic music etc etc. Couples take turns to share about how being a parent have affected them and what practical things helped them to stay focus and dedicate time to nurture their relationship. Remember, if mom and dad aren’t happy babies will be very unhappy. Hope these ideas help. Feel free to improve these and/or suggest other ones on the comments. Have fun!
