There are advantages and disadvantages in going through this. At the end of the road is your choice whether you want to enjoy the benefits or suffer the consequences. Hormone replacement therapy is said to relieve the symptoms of menopause and lower the risks of colon cancer. It slows the development of wrinkles; it maintains breast tissue lessening the sagginess. It also relieves hot flashes and enhances sexual pleasure as it lubricates the vagina. Periods become less painful and become regular. Hot flashes are often mistaken by low grade fever such as the one you get when you have the flu, a cold, urinary track infection or even tuberculosis or cancer. Take your temperature to make sure which one your are having. It’s also said to prevent vision loss that naturally occurs with aging. Osteoporosis and fracture are prevented as well. However, the risks of blood clots, increase in blood pressure, breast cancer, and endometrial cancer (uterus cancer) are high. Your periods will restart and continue for a year after hormone replacement therapy. Women who have had breast or gynaecological cancer, blood clots or liver disease should no use hormone replacement therapy or if you have a family history of stroke, heart disease, blood clots or breast cancer. During menopause the protection against breast cancer increases as estrogen levels decline. When you use hormone replacement therapy you’ll not have this natural benefit. Gall bladder disease irregular bleeding, bloating, headaches and irritability might also occur as a consequence of Hormone Replacement Therapy and those are symptoms you were trying to eliminate. Some women take herbal remedies or anti-depressants to help them cope and deal with mood swings and sleeplessness. You can supplement calcium and vitamin D to prevent bone loss. Hormone replacement therapy has helped many women during a difficult period in their lives. However, the good news is that you can be fine without it as the symptoms of menopause will naturally subside & you body will adjust to the new changes. |
