What type of parent are you?

Authoritarian: Children are immediately punished if they don’t follow your strict rules. There is little or no communication between you and your child when he/she is being punished. Therefore you don’t explain the reason why he/she is being punished. You just give a simple answer related solely to your authority over your child. Your children will be successful but their self-esteem will be on the floor.

Authoritative: Your rules and guidelines are severe as well but you are willing to have a dialogue. You are willing to forgive your child’s mistakes and set clear standards as you show support when they progress. You concentrate more in helping your child to improve his/her behavior than on punishing his/her bad conduct. Your children will be successful in life if you are this type of parent.

Permissive: Indulging your child constantly and never tracing clear standards. You don’t discipline your children that often and hardly ever confront him/her for misbehaving. You are more a friend than a mom/dad. Your children will disrespect authority, do poorly in school, and consequently be very unhappy.

Uninvolved: No demands at all and zero communication with your child. You only provide for your child main needs and have little or no attachment to him/her. At times you ignore your child’s needs. Your child will be unsuccessful, have low self-esteem, and self control.
