fluids??

Topics: 15   Posts: 19

I'm 34 weeks and for the best like month I have been having different kinds of discharge and now i'm startin to wonder if it should be checked out or not. Sometimes its just like a clear, watery fluid.. there is no odor or anything; I'm just hoping it's not amniotic fluid. And other times there is a thicker, milky kind of discharge. I'm just wondering what they could be from and if my doctor should be checking it because I have mentioned it a few times, but I honestly don't think he really listens to me half the time. Haha.

While it is normal to have a greater amount of clear or white discharge as you approach the end of your pregnancy, it is improtant that your doctor know whether or not you are leaking amniotic fluid. Leaking fluid puts your baby at risk for infection. There is a simple test (nitrazine test) that your doctor, midwife, or L&D nurse can do to determine whether the discharge is a leak or not. Call your health care provider and let him know what is happening. It may be normal discharge, but is is always safer to check it out to be sure.
