I would call your doctor and let him know that you are monitoring your blood pressure at home and what the readings are. He will tell you if you need an earlier appointment. Meanwhile, try resting as much as you can on your left side, which should help lower your pressure a little. If your swelling increases, you have any visual changes (like spots in front of your eyes or "seeing stars," if you get a headache, or anything else that worries you, call your doctor right away and let him know what is going on. Good luck, and let us know what happens. :-)

I'm feeling a lilttle releaved knowing that someone else is worried about their blood pressure too. I'm only 18 weeks, but I've been to 4 Dr's appts so far and every time I go, my blood pressure has been high. Nobody seems to worry about it at the Dr.'s but me! Am I being a major worry wart? Or is there something to worry about here? My highest reading was 147/92. I think thats high, but I'm not the professional.

The standard for determining if a blood pressure reading is "high" is usually 140/90 with the diastolic or bottom number being more important; however, it also depends on what your normal blood pressure is. (Someone whose normal pressure is 100/50 would have high blood pressure at a lower reading). The best person to advise you is your doctor, and I would ask him about it. If you have headaches, blurred vision, other visual changes, swelling of your face, hands or feet, or epigastric pain, then tell your doctor also. Since your doctor is seeing you on a regular basis and is aware of your pressures, don't stress about it. Just ask him to explain why he thinks it is what it is, and whether he thinks there is cause for concern. In the meantime, rest on your left side when you can, try not to become overly stressed, and call the doctor at once if you have the other symptoms mentioned above.

I went to the doctor today.. My blood pressure was 150/102 =( They are thinking about putting me on bedrest... I hope i can lower it on my own. Because i can't afford to do bedrest!
Plus i feel like i have so much to do before my little girl gets here!
