I found it will be as hard or as easy as you make it. the trick is to involve your son in your pregnancy as soon as you can, even if you aren't showing. Show him your tummy and talk about your baby, encourage him to talk to your growing bump and even hug it. When the baby arrives let him be involved as much as he wants to be (toddlers make great little helpers) don't be afraid to let him share hugs with the baby while on your lap and ensure he gets plenty of praise when he does good things for you and the baby AND when he shows improvement in his own development. I bottle fed my daughter (second child) my 22 month son used to sit next to me with my arm round him, he held the baby and we both held the bottle, it was very good bonding time for all three of us.

It will be challenging to have two little ones close together, but they should turn out to be great friends as they get a little older. I hope that you will have some help (from your parents or others) at least in the beginning. We know from your other posts that you are facing some extra challenges. I think that mothers who have experienced having children close in age can answer this question better than I can, so I hope you will get many responses here with ideas for helping your toddler adjust to a new baby in the family. We wish you all the best with your little ones.

I fully relate to what you are saying! I have 4 year old twin boy's, a 3 year old daughter, and a 1 year old son. All very close in age as you can see. I fully agree about getting him involved with baby and letting him help out when baby get's here. My kid's were very excited to help mommy when my son came home. It will be difficult at first with the change's that are going to be going on in your home with a newborn and a toddler. But once little man realize's that baby is there to stay he will be a very big help. Just give him time to settle into the idea and thing's will slooth out as the day's go by. Wish you the best of luck honey.

I'm sure it will be hard at the beginning. Heath may or may not notice you are pregnant.
