Yes it is true to both, there is something in the sperm that helps it along but it isn't guaranteed to work. All you can really do is sit and wait for it to happen. When the baby is ready he will come.

It will only help if your body is ready. It's not going to make you go into labor if your body is not prepared to go into labor. In the end, you'll go into labor when your body says it's time, not when you do. Even if you get medically induced, it won't work unless you're ready. Prostaglandin in sperm is what can start labor. But it actually works better to swollow it than to have sex, which a lot don't know. Walking is good exercise while pregnant and it helps move things along, but again, its not going to put you in labor unless you're ready. I walked and had sex regularily during both my pregnancies and went to 41 weeks with one and to 39 weeks with the other. I would just enjoy these last few days, you'll probably in labor soon if you're due. Good luck.

more and more research is showing that labor begins when the BABY signals it to by producing certain chemicals and hormones. you can be as ready as you want, but it's all up to the baby! i understand your frustration, i'm a week past my due date and still waiting!

Having sex and walking can both help to begin labor when your body (and your baby) are ready for labor to begin. There is nothing that is guaranteed to start labor, even induction in the hospital. I know it is hard to wait for labor to begin on its own, but that is really the best thing in most cases. I have known many moms who went it to have labor induced and ended up with a C Section because once they start the process, they have to bring the baby within a certain length of time, or complications, such as infection, can occur.
