Bellyhood.com is a utility that connects mothers (including expectant mothers, grandmothers, adoptive mothers and foster mothers) with others like themselves for purposes of networking, learning, and sharing ideas relating to their roles, concerns, questions and experiences as mothers across a broad spectrum beginning with pregnancy and extending through the parenting of teenagers and beyond, to grandparenting roles and the parenting of adult children.

 

Our goal is to provide a safe forum for mothers who share similar parenting situations to connect with others in like circumstances for support, encouragement and the exchange of ideas and information related to motherhood.
 

 

 

 

OK. What do I do next?

Well, there are a number of things that you can do at bellyHood, but here are few to get things started.

 

• Update Your Profile. The best way to be located by members who share the same challenges and triumphs you do is through the information you share. So make it easier for members to locate you and complete as many details as you feel comfortable.

• Browse through the Member Groups area, find one (or more) that interests you and join in! If you can't find one that suits you, or have a great idea for a new group Start Your Own Group!

• A picture really is worth a 1000 words.  Share the wonderful moments you've captured on film with the rest of the bellyHood community and Create a New Photo Album!

• People want to know what YOU think. Browse through the Member Polls area to see just what they want to know! Share your opinion about various topics. Want to know people's opinions on something yourself? Create Your Own Poll! 

   

• Check out bellyHood's brand New Forum, which provides a wide range of motherhood related topics and issues for discussion.

 

 

 

Cool. How do customize my profile?

---

Customizing your profile is easy!  There are two main types of customizations that can be done to your profile; Profile layouts, and adding custom widgets and tickers.

 

Adding/Changing a Profile Layout/Theme:

 

Your layout refers to the look and feel of your public profile, which is what visitors will see when they arrive at your page. You can update your layout but clicking on the Privacy & Layout tab from your toolbar.

 

Currently, you can choose from about a dozen profile themes provided by bellyHood, but you can also use external layout codes. Although some may have been created for other social networks, they can still be used here.

 

 

 

Adding Tickers, Widgets and Music Playlists to your profile:

 

Although we have reserved a specific section of your profile called "My Plugins" for widgets and tickers, you can also add codes to the About Me category, in the "My Life", "My Inspirations" and the "My Interests" sections of your profile.

 

You can use external code in these fields, but be sure to check out the bellyHood Ticker Factory first.  And if you're expecting a child, don't forget to create your bellyHood Cam! (shown below)

Great.  How do I locate members and create friendships?

There are three easy ways of locating members.

 

1. Visit the Browse Members page if you would like to get very specific details about the type of members you wish to locate, such as their number of children, any child/ren disorders, parent type, etc.

 

2. You can also visit the General Search page.  This search will scan the entire website with the keywords you provide.  Results will be segregated by "Profiles, Classifieds, Groups, Events, Blogs, Polls and Albums/Media".

 

3. Another very easy way to locate members is by clicking on the hyperlinks available on any profile page.  For example, if you click on the "Parent type" hyperlink from your profile, the system will search the entire community for any and all members that fall under that specific category of parent type.  You can also use this function for any other hyperlinks you see on member profiles.

 

Once you have located members you are interested in interacting with you'll need to reach out to them. This can be done in various ways. Post a comment on their profile, blog, poll, or photo. Another quick way to say hello is to send a "tug", or request their friendship. (When a friendship request is sent, the receiving member must approve it before you officially become friends.)  There are no specific rules as to how to approach another member for their friendship, be creative and have fun!

 

 

 

But, what if I want to get my own friends on bellyHood too?

Easy! You can Share bellyHood with your friends by simply providing their email addresses and including a personalized message (optional) and we'll handle generating the invitations requesting them join you here!

BellyHood provides multiple layers of Privacy Settings in order to keep you and your information safe. The settings cover every aspect of the privacy of your profile.  Read each available feature carefully and select the most suitable level of privacy for you.
